MJH Quiz Bowl Results: Our JV Team went (8-1) at Ashland earning them 1st place honors out of 10 teams!
Our Varsity Team ended the meet with a (4-7) record.

Meade Schools continue to be in excellent shape. Meade remains in the GREEN level. While active county cases have increased slightly this week, numbers are still very low. Student/staff quarantines remain at one of the lowest levels since school started and the county positivity rate continues to be very low. Kenneth Harshberger, Superintendent

It was another great day for the MJH Quiz Bowl team!
Two of our teams medaled this evening. Meade 1 won Pool A & advanced to the Semifinals. Meade 3 won Pool B & advanced, as well.
When all was said and done, Meade 3 earned 1st place, Cimarron 2 placed 2nd, Ingalls 1 claimed 3rd, and Meade 1 took 4th!
Interesting side note....
Meade 2 was responsible for handing Meade 3 their only loss of the night in a super close match during regular pool play.
Boys' Sub- State BB will be Friday, February 26th @ Meade @ 7pm. Due to the fact that this is only one game, we will have 50 additional vouchers for patrons who would like to attend the game. KSHSAA sets the ticket price. You must have a voucher to purchase a $7 ticket. Please call the HS office at 873.2981 to reserve yours. KSHSAA requires spectators to wear masks at all times during indoor events.

Our girls' quarterfinal match up will take place in Bucklin Thursday beginning at 7:00pm.

Congrats to our Quiz Bowl Buffs!
Our Varsity team finished the night 3-5 with 4 of the 5 losses being decided by only one question.
Our JV team tied for 1st with a record of 6-1. They took home the silver medals to South Central's gold - determined by our one-question loss to them in the last round! Good work, MJH Quiz Bowl!

**********************Meade COVID-19 Update****************************
The Meade Gating Task Force did not meet this week due to the shortened week; however, COVID-19 numbers remain very low and as of Friday, Feb. 19th the county only had 4 active cases. While the district was notified of a positive student case at the grade school recently, few quarantines were expected since school was not in session. The district is in excellent shape at this time. Kenneth Harshberger, Superintendent

Important BB info: wristband required for HS BB today at Minneola (2 per participant). Must have a voucher to purchase ticket tomorrow at Kiowa County (4 per participant) Monday BB @Home vs Elkhart must be on the 4 person/player roster.
Meade USD 226 schools will start at the normal time tomorrow - Thursday, Feb. 18. We have been assured from our gas supplier that they do not anticipate any gas blackouts. We want to take this time to thank our city employees for working so hard to provide electricity to our schools and the community during this critical time. If electricity would have been off for hours, many areas of our HVAC system at the high school would have been damaged along with the freezing of water lines in both buildings. THANK YOU - CITY of MEADE! We also want to thank our parents and students for their patience during this once in a lifetime event that required schools to shut down. Kenneth Harshberger, Supt.
