POSTPONED: Good luck to our MHS Scholar's Bowl team! They will travel to Rozel/Pawnee Heights to compete in the SPIAA League Scholar's Bowl tournament. Our team is coached by Ms. Jaques. RESCHEDULED for Wednesday, January 17th.
POSTPONED: Mrs. Krier will be hosting a Financial Aid Assistance Night on Monday, January 8th, in the MHS Commons beginning at 6:00pm. The financial aid officers from SCCC will be presenting and assisting students and parents with the FAFSA application process. This year the assistance night is open to patrons/alumni since there have been substantial changes and a three month delay in the FAFSA window opening. All seniors and their parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. Students need to bring their Chromebooks.
Our school board will have their first meeting of 2024 on Monday, January 8th at 6:00pm in the District Office. This will be the first meeting for our newly elected board members, Weston Kroth and Mario Saucedo. Please remember the unofficial minutes are posted on our website. Wednesday our 8th grade and sophomore classes will have the opportunity to participate in Reality U™. Minneola is hosting the event this year. Our 8th grade students will attend the morning session while our sophomores will attend the afternoon session. Reality U™ Aims To:
Teach teens that their performance in school today can affect their financial future.
Provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice personal finance skills.
Mobilize the community to become involved stakeholders in education, particularly financial literacy education in their local schools.
Integrate Individual Plan of Study components into the Reality U™ preparation, the simulation/booths, and the debriefing process.

Our MJH and MHS student-athletes will be on the road all week. Our junior high students will travel to Jetmore/Hodgeman County on Thursday. Our MHS teams will travel to SWH on Tuesday and Satanta on Friday. Saturday our MJH C-Team boys will compete in the Kiowa County C-Team Tournament. Good luck to all our basketball teams! EDIT: The MHS vs. Ingalls basketball game has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 13th. This will be varsity competition. We will not play any JV games. Our girls are set to play at 6:30pm followed by our boys at 8:00pm. Our Hall of Fame Inductees will be recognized between the games.
LOOKING AHEAD: The high school SPIAA Basketball Tournament will begin next week with Spearville hosting the play-in games. The girls' games will take place on Friday, January 19th, and the boys' teams will play on Saturday, January 20th. The remainder of the tournament will take place at the United Wireless Arena in Dodge City. The brackets will be posted as soon as they are available. Please remember, passes will not be accepted at the tournament games.
